According to reports, Melania Trump declined First Lady Jill Biden’s invitation to the White House for a traditional tea.
Usually conducted prior to the inauguration of a new president, the White House tea tradition is a traditional gathering between the departing and incoming First Ladies. Usually over tea, the departing First Lady greets the incoming First Lady at this event and gives her a tour of the White House’s private rooms and family areas. The custom has mostly been maintained since it was started in 1952 when departing First Lady Bess Truman entertained the incoming First Lady, Mamie Eisenhower.
However, insiders claim that despite their husbands having a cordial discussion, Melania and Jill have not spoken since Vice President Kamala Harris’ crushing electoral defeat. “Mrs. Trump is not going, and they have not spoken,” a person with knowledge of the matter told DailyMail.com about Wednesday’s presidential meeting.
A meeting between the two families has previously garnered media attention. Melania deviated from tradition during the 2020 transition period by maintaining a low profile and delaying reaching out to Jill. But when the Bidens moved into the White House, they had their own little ceremony.
Another source told The New York Post, “She ain’t going.” Additionally, the source chastised Joe Biden for the conduct of his administration, saying, “Jill Biden’s husband gave the FBI permission to snoop through her underwear drawer.” The Bidens are abhorrent. “Jill Biden isn’t someone Melania needs to meet,” the insider added, underscoring Melania’s contempt for the meeting.
Last November, Jill and Melania met at the funeral for Rosalynn Carter. Attention was drawn to her decision to go to the burial alone herself since her husband, President-elect Trump, was not present.
The Mar-a-Lago raid appears to have affected some personally. To carry out a search warrant, FBI officers arrived at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, in August 2022. The goal of the operation was to recover secret information that the former president was accused of mishandling after his term ended.
The operatives gathered 26 boxes, some of which contained extremely sensitive material and were labeled “secret,” “confidential,” and “top secret.” The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) had been working to recover presidential documents that Trump had taken with him after leaving office, and this search was the final step in that endeavor.
In spite of this, President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump are set to meet at the White House to talk about the impending handover of power.
